FREE Books!

Limited Offer

For a while I am offering a refund on the purchase price of a paperback copy of any one of my NOVELS shown below. (Mainly because they have been around for a while!) If you like a  mystery or thriller then these books have the added interest of being set in the south of England! Two are set in the Christchurch area and the other is set in Bath - plus a few other well-known locations around the world.

How to Get One!

I am offering a FULL REFUND on your purchase price of a chosen book in return for an honest review on Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com. All feedback is welcome, both positive and negative.

Because this offer may be withdrawn on any book, and at any time, the FIRST CONDITION is that you contact me first, giving me your name and email address, telling me WHICH book you intend to buy, and WHY it appeals to you.

The SECOND CONDITION, after you have obtained my agreement via email, is to PERSONALLY BUY your selected book on Amazon, read it, and then post a review on the website from which you bought it. (When it is published on Amazon it will show as a Verified Purchase.)

The THIRD CONDITION is that you contact me a second time, providing your name, postal address, email address, original application date, your purchase price, and tell me where to find your review. To speed up this process it would also be great if you could optionally include the URL of your review page. (I can't chase people, so if you miss out any of the above requirements in your original request for a refund then you will also miss out on your refund!)

Once I have checked your Verified Review, as evidence of your purchase, I will send you a (rounded-up) Amazon token to cover your purchase price up to £9/$10.

Why free books?

Why this offer? Well, firstly, it is because I'm kept so busy preparing my radio shows that I have little time to promote books. Resting on my laurels is all very well - so long as people know of those laurels! Most people in the local area know me more as a broadcaster than a writer these days. Because a small publisher does not have the reach or profitability of a large publisher it cannot create the same SPLASH with a new book. But if you read my reader reviews from Amazon on this website, you can confirm these books are worth a read! With this offer, WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE?

Big publishers give away free reader-review copies to regular Amazon reader-reviewers. And they can take the hit when those readers don't bother to follow through. My review copies don't fall into that category and I - rather than the publisher - have to pay for them. I've followed the above route before and many people just take the book and don't bother to post a review. In one case I even had a review copy specially delivered to the London hotel of a 'really keen' American visitor. Again, they were not bothered once they had their hands on my book. I never heard from them again! How would you feel about that? So this offer ensures I only pay for reader reviewers who DO follow-through - and it allows me to cap the offer whenever I wish without anyone losing out.

Reader-reviews are a Big Deal to authors, so I will be really grateful if you, whether a reader or a listener to my radio show, do actually get to  know me as a writer. When I take a year or more to write a book, it's far more rewarding to get good feedback, and know there are people who appreciate your work, as opposed to the small amount I get as a royalty payment alone. Small though it may be, as a certain retailer puts it, "every little helps". An author is an artist without a visible audience - and other kinds of artist have felt a bit depressed to find themselves in that situation for the first time during COVID! My Christian radio work is voluntary. So you could say that buying my books helps me to support that work! It might also help encourage me to write more books!
LOYALTY has greater value than ROYALTY -
in my book!

Sandman

Picture
A gripping psychological read with characters that reach out and grab you. A real page-turner.
--Sophie King
How would you cope if a member of your family was murdered, you were being intimidated by the person you believe is responsible, and then the police accused you of the murder?

This novel shows how the fragility of family life can be thrown completely off-course as a result of over-reacting to an intimidating event.

This psychological/mystery thriller is set in Christchurch and Bournemouth, and particularly on Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Sandbank. You will be able to imagine the characters walking in these locations, and this website includes walks in these areas.

The Grave Concerns of Jennifer Lloyd

Picture
A fine melding of mystery thriller and contemporary fiction, but refreshingly free of the clichés of either.
--Stephan J Myers
Jennifer was abandoned by her father at a young age and sexually assaulted in a children's home. But through these hard times she taught herself to appear feisty and self-assured. Yet beneath this veneer she is a just vulnerable girl. Focused on her career, and wanting to put the world to rights, she is willing to take risks when exposing a murderer on television in order to enhance her fame as a fledgling TV presenter. Given her background, it is no wonder she is unwilling to trust men or to get deeply involved in any male relationship - although she feels this works against her own happiness. Jen needs YOU to be her friend and companion through these difficult times.

This twisty mystery thriller is set in Christchurch and Bournemouth. This website includes information about these locations.

Flying a Kite

Picture
This wonderful, well-written and entertaining novel... will no doubt open many minds.
—William Roache, MBE
A graduate drops out theology because of waning faith - but is then approached by a dying multi-millionaire who offers him a £1M prize if he can convincingly prove or disprove the existence of God and Heaven! Working at two levels - an adventure story and a theological quest - it has been said this novel combines the rich characterisation of Peter Carey with the spiritual probing of C. S. Lewis. Or, looked at another way, imagine a blending of a more Biblical version of The Shack with The deepness of The Celestine Prophecy.

This innovative quest novel is principally set in Bath, but also features locations in Rome, Lake Garda, Tenerife, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Click here for information about the worldwide locations used in this novel.
