'INSPIRE is a show that induces a state of relaxation and exudes a healing aura from which I greatly benefit. I hope to tune-in to INSPIRE for many years to come.
-Geoffrey Lindley 'I would like to say how much I enjoy listening to your show. There is a great mix of inspiration, relaxation, good humour and great songs. A wonderful antidote to a hectic day in this busy world.' -Anne Lydon Hi there! I'm Ian Kingsley. I am both a novelist and a broadcaster on Hope FM in Dorset, England. I tweet about important - and funny - things going on in the world, with a particular focus on news, animals, Nature and climate change. Each week I hope to bring you inspiring thoughts and music, reasons to smile, and maybe a little bit closer to God. I hope you enjoy the process! I am a strong believer that science and religion should be regarded as complementary not mutually exclusive, and from time to time I try to show why.
The show brings you a mellow and relaxing mix of smooth music and worship songs. The first part of the show is built around a great secular playlist including new releases, and is peppered with humour, inspiring quotes, wry comments on the tracks, and interesting topics that may not be in mainstream view. These are often aimed at inspiring you and helping with your faith and self-worth. The second part of the show is called 'The Praise Phase' and is built around Contemporary Christian music (CCM), and a 'faith topic'. If you have a track that is very special to you or someone you know and want to tell us why on air, please contact me and I will try to include this in the show. If you would like your voice on air, send a voice message via an email to [email protected] explaining why the song is special. Click below to Listen Again from here...

![]() Hope FM is a community-focused Christian radio station that was launched in 2007. Its scope covers everything that is of interest in its beautiful south-coast location in England. This includes - but is certainly not restricted to - specifically Christian shows, and is also well-known for featuring live broadcasts from Christian events. All this is backed up by a great and varied secular and Christian music mix, delivered 24/7.
Numerous ways to listen:
NOW ON DAB:
If you live in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) area then be aware that Hope FM expanded to offer Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) from April 2025, beginning in the Poole, Wimborne and Purbeck areas, then planning to extend to include the other areas originally covered by broadcasts on 90.1 FM. DAB offers higher quality output. ON YOUR FM/DAB RADIO:
You can listen to HOPE FM on 90.1 FM (but this normally requires a suitable aerial because local community radio stations like Hope FM are legally limited to low signal strength to prevent overlapping signal interference from nearby regions). If it is available where you happen to be and you tune in to 90.1 FM and have a DAB tuner it will automatically switch to the DAB broadcast on 206.4, otherwise just search for 'Hope FM' on your DAB tuner. ON YOUR CAR RADIO: You can get good reception of Hope FM on car radios within the BCP area (and a little beyond eg Purbeck). Even DAB car radios usually pick up local FM stations such as Hope FM. Because it is lower power you will need to manually tune the station in and set it to a preset, after which there should be no troubles - although it might be easier to tune-in in the central BCP area. (After that you can pick-up as far away as Wimborne, Ferndown, Ringwood and Highcliffe). Remember that tuning to 90.1 FM will allow your radio to automatically switch to the DAB wavelength if that is possible. If the DAB signal gets too weak it should switched back to 90.1 FM. ON YOUR SMART TV: Not many people realise their SMART TV provides the means of listening to a host of national and local radio stations. Just look for its Radio App, install it, then go to it and search for 'Hope FM'. Set it as a 'favourite' so it is then only a click away! This is a great solution for quality sound if you have a sound bar! VIA STREAMING OVER THE INTERNET: See below! BE AWARE there is more than one "Hope FM" radio station in the world of the internet. To be sure to get the right one, look out for the Hope FM logo on the play-out page. If searching, use the phrase: "90.1 hope fm". Read my Tune-In Notes in case of difficulty.
ON YOUR SMART SPEAKER
Just ask Alexa: "Play Hope FM" VIA the HOPE FM App
Download the Hope FM App to listen to Hope FM STREAMING on your Apple or Android devices anywhere in the world: https://apps.apple.com/app/id1547164377 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.LocalRadioPlayer.HopeFm Once you have this App you can immediately switch to it if you have FM reception problems because you are outside our broadcast area - or if the weather is playing up! You can then listen without any problems. CATCH-UP OR LISTEN AGAIN TO MY SHOWS
Go to the panels below to catch-up on missed shows or to listen again to past shows. Please be aware that these archived recordings are automatically created on a timed basis. Unfortunately this means that any preceding overflow pushes the start of archiving back, meaning that sometimes the beginning of the show is cut and the start of recording may be a little after the real-time start. In simple terms this means the start of the show is sometimes missing.

If you read 'The Shack' you should read THIS! It explores belief systems in the cloak of a mystery novel but it is much closer to Christian beliefs than The Shack's portrayal of the Trinity. |
